Amtrak Train / Pedestrian Fatality.

At approximately 4:30pm this evening, the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher received a call from Union Pacific personnel that one of their Amtrak trains had struck a pedestrian at Hwy. 90 near CR 154 but evidently not at the actual intersection. The pedestrian was deceased at the scene. In the very early stage of the investigation it is reported the pedestrian is Peter (nmn) Antoine, a black male born 6-30-58, address is unconfirmed at this time.

Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies and D.P.S are on the scene with the Union Pacific Police Department in route. Justice of the Peace Judge Stephen Hebert has been called to conduct the inquest. There is no information available, at this time, as to why Antoine was on the rail road tracks but the investigation is continuing. (End)
