January 24, 2017

On January 23, 2017 Deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Cadillac CTS bearing a Texas registration.  The vehicle was Northbound on Hwy-59 in Liberty County.  There were two occupants in the vehicle.  There was a belief that the occupants were involved in criminal activity.  Both of the occupants gave their consent to search the vehicle.

During the search the Deputies located a false/hidden compartment in the floorboard area of both the driver and passenger side.  When access was gained by the Deputies they located 10 bundles that were wrapped in black electrical tape.  The bundles contained a white powdery substance that is believed to be Cocaine.  One of the occupants admitted that the Cocaine was his and that the other person had no knowledge of the Cocaine.  The occupant that admitted that the drug was his was identified as Francis Stephan Lee, DOB: 01/06/1970.

Lee was placed in custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail.  The Cocaine weighed approximately 12 pounds and had an estimated street value of $150,000.   Francis Stephan Lee was charged with Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance: PG-1, a First Degree Felony.  Lee also has a hold out of the State of Maryland for a Parole Violation.

Thank you,

Bobby Rader - Sheriff
