Human Skeletal Remains Found In Liberty County.

At approximately noon on Sunday, August 28th, owners of property on Road 3556 in the Grand San Jacinto Sub-Division off FM 1010 near the City of Plum Grove, Texas in north Liberty County reported the discovery of human skeletal remains. The owners, who had not visited their property for almost two months had returned in order to clear brush from the land when they found the remains and called authorities.

According to Liberty County Sheriff’s lead Investigator Sgt. Josh Cummins, it appears from the preliminary investigation, that animals had scavenged the remains but a human skull and several bones were located in the immediate and surrounding area. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition and lack of other physical evidence at the scene, it was not possible to identify the remains as male or female nor any signs that would indicate injuries or foul play. The remains were found off a new road that has not, as yet, been numbered or named within the county thus the only designation is “Road” 3556 in the new sub-division.

Pct. #6 Justice of the Peace, Judge Ralph Fuller responded to the scene to conduct the inquest. He later ordered an autopsy which should be completed within the week to determine a possible cause of death, the sex of the remains and any other evidence that might be available to identify the remains. At the present time, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has no report of a missing person that might fit within the time frame of the skeletal remains condition but the investigation is still on-going.
