Shortly before noon today, a home fire on CR 3293 in north Liberty County claimed the life of 49 year old Manuel Jesus Rodriguez even though his son made a valiant effort to save his father. According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Cpl. James W. McQueen, a fire developed in the chimney of the home and quickly spread. The Cleveland Fire Department as well as Liberty County EMS personnel attempted to revive Rodriguez but their best efforts failed.
