Officer Safety Info. Don’t Be A Victim.

The attached photo shows what an automobile can do to the human body and what a human body can do to the vehicle, when it strikes someone traveling at 90 mph. Perhaps an unpleasant scene but it can, and has, happened….

Houston Police Officer Kevin Scott Will stopped to investigate a hit and run car crash on May 29, 2011. While interviewing a witness, this vehicle traveling at a speed of 90mph went around a police barricade and struck Officer Will but not before the Officer did his last heroic act in pushing the witness out of harm’s way before he, himself, took the full impact and was killed.

The driver had a blood alcohol level of three times the legal limit and was later convicted and received 55 years in prison on June 12, 2012. Officer Will left behind his pregnant wife and three children.

Road side traffic stops are perhaps one of the most dangerous things most law enforcement personnel conducts. Be AWARE of the traffic conditions…. Be SAFE and don’t be a victim.

The above is just FYI…Please take care out there.

Thank you,

Capt. Ken DeFoor
