School Shooting Threat Locks Down Cleveland I.S.D

At approximately 2:pm Tuesday, a caller to both the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office threatened to “..Shoot up the Cleveland school…”. According to Sheriff’s Patrol Captain Mark Ellington, the Cleveland schools were immediately placed on full lock down for approximately an hour and a half before parents were notified it was considered safe to pick up their children.

Sheriff’s Investigators quickly began looking into the source of the threat call and focused on an area in the Plum Grove area of north Liberty County.  It was not long, according to Captain Billy Knox of the Criminal Investigation Division, that a 17 year old female student was detained by Investigators and identified as the person who made the threatening phone calls.

At this early stage of the investigation no arrest has been made nor has the student’s name been released by authorities as the investigation continues by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. (END)
